8th Annual SAFPAW Secret Santa Toy Program

Help us bring the Magic of Christmas to over 60 deserving children in a low income community in Nashville

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please consider donating here.

This year’s project is in honor of Jason Brown, a beloved SAFPAW volunteer who passed away this year. For 7 years now we have blessed a small community on Dickerson Road with Christmas/Holiday presents for over 60 children from birth to 17. Jason was a fierce believer in this program.

We have always chosen to do this as a Secret Santa. This community does not know that it is SAFPAW behind the toys, clothes, diapers and everything that can now fill that space under their Christmas tree. We believe it is critical to give dignity to those we serve, especially for the children. They know all about being poor. Your donations will mean the children get to have Christmas. For their families it means they can concentrate on rent or buying food for a Holiday meal. We want them to wake up Christmas morning to the TRUE MAGIC of Christmas! We would like to raise $8000. The need is great and we need your help!

Please join SAFPAW for our 2018 Christmas Toy Drive!

Would you like to be a Super Hero this Holiday Season?

All throughout the year, SAFPAW serves people & pets who are homeless or housed but living in poverty. During the holidays, we take on a mission that I call “a Christmas gift for our hearts”. For over 5 years, SAFPAW has adopted one of our area trailer park communities and we provide Christmas for every child living there from birth to age 17. In addition, we sit down with the property manager to pick a family who is struggling and we pay their rent for December. Ending homelessness is a worthy goal, but preventing homelessness is even better.

So each year, we make sure that the children and families we serve have a Christmas tree surrounded by surprises.....and we need you to spread the word about the SAFPAW Toy Drive! Let everyone know we are accepting new toys, diapers, clothes & coats, books, hoodies, and games for children from birth to age 17. And we are accepting cash donations, as well as gift cards to Walmart. We will pick up, or you can drop off your gifts to us at SAFPAW/Perian’s Place.

You can also mail your tax deductible donation, earmarked “2018 Toy Drive” to the P.O. Box below. The total cost for this Christmas program is around $1,700. Any monies raised above what is needed for our 2018 Christmas Toy Drive will go towards winter supplies for the area homeless people and pets that we serve. You can also email or call us to get more involved with SAFPAW!

SAFPAW super heroes may not wear a cape, but when one of our kids smiles at us, we sure do feel like we could leap a tall building. So join us, please, and let’s make the 2018 Holiday Season a lot brighter for some very special children.

Launched to help pets in need by VCA Animal Hospitals, Hill's Pet Nutrition, and Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare

Nashville, TN (June 19, 2018) – VCA Animal Hospitals, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and the Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare (SAFPAW) have teamed up to hold their first VCA Charities Pet Food Pantry food distribution event in Nashville. The event will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the JC Napier Community Center, located at 73 Fairfield Ave.

After the event, pet food will be distributed at several homeless camps in the East Nashville and Madison areas.

VCA Animal Hospitals is extremely honored and proud to expand its national Pet Food Pantry program to the Nashville area. In June 2010, VCA Charities launched the first Pet Food Pantry location in Venice, CA. The program was created to provide nutritious pet food to needy families to help keep their pets healthy and happy. It has since expanded to 30 locations in 19 states, including the new Nashville addition.

The Pet Food Pantry program is co-sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, which donates the pet food. The annual cost to provide the pet food for each pantry location is approximately $5,000. Each year, the program provides over 300,000 meals to animals in need. Since the program was launched eight years ago, VCA Charities and Hill’s have provided these pets with over two million meals.

The Pet Food Pantry program was initially started to provide healthy, nutritious pet food to pet parents affected by the economic downturn.

"At that time, an increasing number of pets were being taken to animal hospitals for euthanasia or abandoned when their owners could no longer bear the cost of caring for them,” said Art Antin, chief operating officer for VCA Animal Hospitals. “By providing free meals, we have helped many families hold onto the loving and comforting bond their pets provide.”

This amazing program comes to the Nashville area via the dedicated hard work of local VCA Animal Hospitals team members who bonded together to help those in need.

“We live and work in the Nashville area, and we see the need to help our community," said Tom Hazay, VCA regional operations director. "By starting the Pet Food Pantry program here, we are able to give back and do something positive for others.”

VCA Animal Hospitals and VCA Charities continue to support programs, organizations, and causes that promote pet healthcare education, proactive veterinary care, proper pet nutrition, and prevention of cruelty to animals.
